To Boldly Go Where No Star Trek Barcode Scanner Has Gone Before

We went to see the latest  J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie over the weekend. Star Trek Into Darkness is a super addition to the Trek movie catalog but what was with all the barcode scanner props on the bridge of the Enterprise – yikes!

Maybe the $190 million dollar budget was not enough to get some original props designed or perhaps the production team wanted the bridge of NCC-1701 to have the Apple Store look.  More likely they are softening up Trekkies for the next movie which will be set in a 23rd Century supermarket.

More pictures from the guys who supplied the products at Barcodeinc.

Whats next? how about a Nokia 3110 as a space ship in a re-boot of Red Dwarf …

What other movies have you seen with everyday products as set dressing?

  1. Ooh naughtie, naughtie. sounds like subliminal advertising to me. Or is it true – and the enterprise need to know as soon as possible? Barcodes really are taking over the world! Help!
