C++ and .NET Toolkit
Particularly useful if you are designing your own applications
and need GPS functionality The Electric Compass GPS C++ and .NET
Toolkits are Application Program Interfaces (API) designed to
simplify communications between a GPS receiver and its host,
typically a Windows Mobile based handheld computer - although it
can also be used for desktop and laptop applications.
The toolkit handles messages from most
popular GPS protocols.
The toolkit's Programmer Reference
materials (see links above) describe the setup and syntax of
each API function. These functions include:
-
Get current latitude and longitude
(in radians or degrees)
Get current altitude and ground speed
-
Enable or Disable communications with
the GPS receiver
Get the GPS baud rate and communications port using patented
technology
-
Get the GPS dilution of precision (DOP
or HDOP) values
-
List the currently available GPS
satellites - and other functions to control the settings and
usage of the GPS.
The GPS Toolkits were created over the
course of five years of GPS research and development. They have
been used in the creation of numerous commercial and consumer
applications and it continues to evolve as new protocols are
established.
Electric Compass GPS ActiveX Control offers
much of the functionality of our GPS toolkit for use in Rapid
Application Development environments. It works with any
development environment that supports ActiveX technology to
unlock the power of GPS for use in handheld applications. The
ActiveX control also makes it possible to develop Web
applications that use GPS.
The control allows you to:
-
Get current latitude and longitude
(in radians or degrees)
-
Get current altitude and ground speed
-
Enable or Disable communications with
the GPS receiver
-
Get the GPS baud rate and
communications port using patented technology
-
Get the GPS dilution of precision (DOP
or HDOP) values
-
List the currently available GPS
satellites
