Changes in Retail
Retail has changed dramatically in recent years. There has been a huge shift in the way we buy and sell products, with an immense acceleration of e-commerce. In 2019 $3 trillion dollars was transacted online. But this isn’t the only change in retail. The recent impact of the pandemic has effected every one of us.
For a number of months we’ve seen the closure of many shops and restaurants. The only stores we were able to visit were supermarkets and other essential stores. Since then we’re slowly beginning to see different retailers open up gradually. Despite this we won’t be going back to normal just yet.
The Corona virus is still in existence and there is yet to be a vaccine. Forbes says “Social distancing may become a way of life until there is a vaccine for COVID-19”. Lots of retailers have implemented special guidelines for social distancing. Such as regulating and reducing the number of individuals in a shop at one time. Or providing hand sanitiser and introducing Perspex screens.
Technology in Retail
We’re likely to see a massive increase in the use of contactless payments. The pandemic has forced companies to adopt a contactless payment system. Some people argue that the pandemic has only stimulated the process of companies turning contactless as the future was inevitable. Cyndie Martini’ president and SEO, Member access processing says “For the future of cards…that path has already been taken. We’re already going down it. COVID might have just accelerated it a bit”.
Experts at MobileWorxs believe now is the best time to invest in a technical solution, contactless payments. Not only does it work with social distancing measures. It is attractive to the consumer if they know the retailer is able to provide this option, especially those who are more at risk, such as elderly of people with respiratory issues. Additionally being able to protect your workers, they will have reduced contact with customers as transactions will be easier and quicker. This is also beneficial to your workers productivity because of reduced time spent with the customers.
At MobileWorxs we partnered with technical solutions company Unitech to provide our customers with premium quality mobile solutions.
