To introduce Waizu to our customers and to provide insight into Waizu’s goals, objectives, and values, we decided to interview their CEO, Adrian Lawson – we understand there are a vast number of software companies and with that, it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate which is the most suitable. Read the Q&A below.
The Interview
Can you give us your elevator pitch?
For companies in retail and supply chain who have shared mobile devices, Waizu is a Software-as-a-Service business that solves the problem of automating the issuing out and receiving back of these mission critical devices.
We also significantly reduce the many that get lost or go missing by alerting the operation before the business even know a device is missing and locating them through indoor tracking and our innovative ‘virtual smart cabinets’.
Unlike standard mobile device management tools, Waizu is created specifically for the operations team who need a different system to help them stay on top of these day-to-day issues and give users accountability for how they use and treat a shared device.
In just over a year Waizu has sold 10,000 licenses and is working with strategic hardware-managed service providers to help them add more value to their customers.
What does your role involve?
As CEO of a fast-growing software business my role is very varied. I oversee all functions such as product development, sales, marketing, finance, and HR.
As each function grows, I support team member in taking on more responsibility and growing their contribution both personally and professionally.
I try to surround myself with the best people and hire for where the ball is going to be, not just for where it is today.
What are the trends you saw in 2022?
It was all about the Supply chain!
Businesses were looking to get more efficient and therefore having user accountability for shared mobile devices was getting on the agenda more frequently.
Avoiding operational downtime was a priority and so tools to help get supply chain workers up and running quicker and more effectively was paramount.
Projects that get attention had to have compelling Return on Investment (ROI) as businesses made tough decisions on what they did with their limited resources.
What are the Waizu values & principles?
As a business we have always focused on 3 core values:
– Being ‘agile’ and responding quickly to customer needs to help us to stay ahead.
– Having a ‘More Than’ mindset so our team members always look to exceed expectations.
– ‘Winning Together’ as we build out our strategic partners, critical to our route to market.
What’s on the horizon/are you excited for in 2023?
We have a number of large-scale deployments coming up in 2023 that will really move our platform forward from an enterprise-scale perspective. Customers are now asking for additional features and functionality in Waizu as we continue to innovate around the core problems we solve.
Our expansion into Europe is just starting as customers look for our solution to help them in other locations.
Finally, our team will continue to grow in line with supporting our partner base.
What are you looking to achieve with MobileWorxs at the Retail Technology show?
We are excited to partner with MobileWorxs at Retail Technology and to show how our software can support existing and new supply chain customers using shared rugged mobile devices.
The extensive range of hardware available from MobileWorxs is a great fit for Waizu as our software works side by side on their product range to add more value to their customers’ overall solution.
