New Surface Go 4, What You Need To Know

The latest version of the Surface Go, Surface Go 4 was announced last week. The tablet has a number of key performance upgrades over the previous device.

Curiously. Microsoft claim Surface Go 4 will not be available to consumers rather they are specifically targeting enterprise and Frontline workers in areas such as Healthcare, Logistics and Retail supply chain.

Processor

Microsoft has adopted the Intel N200 processor and Intel UHD Graphics. The N200 is well suited to routine computing tasks typically of workflow-based applications in a variety of Frontline worker settings.

Memory

The entry-level 4GB RAM version has been dropped in favour of 8GB.

Choose between 64GB 128GB or 256GB drives.

Surface Go 4 runs Windows 11 Professional supports Autopilot deployment and provides two 1080p cameras and a 10.5-inch 1920 x 1280 350 nit display. It carries over the same USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and microSD card reader format from the Go 3. No WWAN option at launch there still seems to be some Go 3’s of this config in the channel.

Power

Performance is enhanced further by Microsoft claiming up to 12.5-hour battery life with the Go 4 up from 7 hours for the Go 3. Although no battery capacity is detailed on the specifications this will be a welcome enhancement for Frontline workers.

Repair

Some parts such as the motherboard, battery, display and kickstand can be removed and replaced. Microsoft started this with the Pro series. In markets where the 18-month lifecycle is considered a little short, this is a welcome development.
